WOMEN OF DURO
Whoop whoop! We’re finally doing it – a women-only Enduro right here in Wellington.
Not sure what Enduro is? This is the race for you!
Interested but never raced in the Wellington Enduro Series as you were nervous about it being all guys? This race is for you!
Love Enduro and keen to combine Revolve vibes with an achievable course and time limit? This race is for you!
So what is Enduro?
An Enduro mountain bike event is where you ride both the ups and the downs, but you are only timed on the downs (your total time across all the downhill stages is what your final place is based on). The best part about this is that you can climb up with your mates and not be in a big rush, which leaves time for good chats and yummy snacks!
You wear a timing chip the entire way, and there’s a timer at the start and end of each timed stage that goes off automatically. We will do 30 second to one-minute gaps between riders – or more if you want – so that ideally no one needs to pass anyone.
There is an overall time limit to complete the entire event – you just need to make sure you do all the timed stages within the time limit – in this case it’s 3 hours.
If you finish early, you can go back and do some of the timed stages again.
What are the timed stages?
There will be different ones for the different levels, and we'll provide a map with the stages marked on it. See below for details:
Beginner course: Magic Carpet (just the section from the start to the top of Lazy Fern) & Lazy Fern two times
Intermediate course: North Face (ideally Peak Flow but depends if maintenance if complete), JFK/ Smokin’ & Swigg
Advanced course: Pohatu, Starfish & Live Wires (intermediate or advanced line – your choice)
Do I have to do them in a specific order?
Nope! You can do them in whatever order you like, though you might change your mind on the day if you think a line to start is too long. You can also pre-plan from now onwards, as you have all the course details this far out!
What happened to Women of Dirt?
We still love Women of Dirt, but with numbers dwindling over the years, we thought we should switch it up. But it’s not gone! The plan is to alternate every two years – so in 2026 Women of Dirt will be back, and in 2027 Women of Duro will run again.
That said, we are keen to retain the Women of Dirt vibe, so we will have the event village pumping with the normal baking competition, costumes competition, supporter hang out, clothing exchange and mechanical support from Dirt Merchants!
Please note that our alternative rain date is the following day. In the situation of a severe weather forecast on the day of the event, we will postpone to Sunday 16 November 2025. Please note we do not offer refunds if the event goes ahead on the rain date. If we are forced to cancel, we will refund what we are able to after non-recoverable expenses are met.
Thank you for your understanding.
