WEEKEND MTB Ride - International Women's MTB Day!
Saturday 7 May @ Makara @ 10am
Beginner, Strong Intermediate/ Advanced & Expert (Ride Guides below)

What better way to celebrate International Women's Mountain Biking Day than a big group ride at Makara! Similar to the celebration we had for our 600th ride, there will be rides for all abilities, beginner/green trails, right through to expert/black trails. We'll all meet at the car park at Makara ready to ride at 10am, splitting off into whichever group you'd like to ride with. Details below:

Green trails (and a light blue- if everyone is feeling confident) with Ride Guide Dane. If you're new to mountain biking, not used to riding in a group, not sure of your level of fitness or ability, or just a bit rusty on the trails; this option is for you. We will be riding up Koru (Green) and depending on who attends and how we feel on the day, we can play on Magic carpet (Green) and either come down Lazy Fern (green) or Swigg (light blue trail). We’ll ride for around an hour- depending on who wants to join this option and how confident you’re feeling on the day.

Strong intermediate/Advanced with Ride Guides Nessa and Donalda - we will go to the top either via the bridge or missing link/aratihi (depending on energy levels on the day!) and descend via North Face- Pohatu and then either Live Wires (easier line) or Starfish depending on group choice. This ride is a good option if you want to try the slightly techier trails in a friendly group, we can stop and practice lines if people are keen.

Expert with Ride Guides Julia and Anna. If you've ever wanted to try some black trails but never known where to start, or seemed daunted by the prospect, come have a go with an awesome group of ladies. If you are comfortable with steep tech, we'll aim to hit either Vertigo or Trickle Falls, with a Live Wires expert line to finish. We can stop and session trickier parts if that's what suits the group on the day too.
